You could almost say that Jim was born into transportation.  His father owned a trucking company in Chicago, and while other kids were playing with toy trucks in the sandbox, you would often find Jim playing on real trucks.  By age 13, he was already learning the business.  “When I wasn’t in class, I was in my father’s office,” Jim recalls.  After graduating college with a business degree, he returned to the transportation field.  Since those days, Jim has spent more than 40 years working for freight companies with annual budgets ranging from $5 million to $100 million.  “In this business, you must have the right product in the right place at the right time, and all for the right price,” he says.  “It’s like putting a puzzle together.”

It is exactly that endless inbound and outbound flurry which makes transportation logistics so challenging, but it’s a task that he relishes.  Jim brought his lifetime of experience to J&J in 2005, and has since been able to improve efficiency and lower the cost to the consumer.
