Food Safety – Progressive… more than mere Compliance

J&J is progressive and at the forefront of all relevant issues relating to food safety.  J&J considers the requirements under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) to be a minimum.  J&J is also compliant with all Global Food Safety Initiative requirements (GFSI”), which are industry regulations and guidelines that have consolidated many existing regulations, including Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (“HACCP”), Good Agricultural Practice (“GAP”), Good Manufacturing Practice (“GMP”), and Country of Origin Labeling (“COOL”).

J&J is improving its traceback capabilities by full implementation of unique Global Trade Item Numbers (“GTIN”) placed on each box or container of produce.  J&J has spent significant time and financial resources to comply with the GTIN requirements.

J&J has also implemented new technology standards, such as the International Compliance Information Exchange (“iCiX”) to fulfill documentation requirements for quality assurance and food safety.  The Company’s use of the iCiX Exchange assures customers of J&J’s certification of liability insurance, product recall program standard operating procedures, product specifications, and third party audits, among other quality certifications.

J&J recently expanded its already extensive camera network to provide additional security.

J&J’s executives take food safety extremely seriously and endorse our superior achievement of the most stringent type of audit, Primus’ GFSI Audit.  In addition to hiring outside consultants, J&J has a Director of Food Safety and two additional full-time food safety employees.
